This website has been established to assist with the development of the Supply Chain for the Rampion Offshore Wind Farm. Funded by the Project Developer, E.ON and the local authorities that contribute to the Coastal West Sussex Partnership (Arun District Council, Chichester District Council, Adur and Worthing Councils plus West Sussex County Council), Brighton and Hove City Council, East Sussex County Council and Lewes District Council it seeks to achieve two key objectives.
Firstly, E.ON wish to optimise procurement by using local expertise as part of the Rampion Project supply chain. The surrounding area has businesses of all sizes operating in a range of sectors including marine, maritime and high value engineering. Many of these have the potential to diversify and provide goods and services to the Rampion contractors. This would be during the construction phase and the ongoing 'Operations and Maintenance' (O&M) for the life cycle of the project. The purpose of this website is to enable businesses of all sizes to participate but particularly the majority which are Small/ Medium sized (SMEs).
Secondly, the development of 'Rampion Offshore' will provide a significant economic impetus to the area. The local authorities wish to maximise this by assisting businesses in their area to engage with the project. This will result in increased employment opportunities and benefit the local communities.
An element of funding for this portal has been provided by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) which is designed to benefit regional and local economies. The support given has occurred as part of the BEEMS (Building European Environmental and Maritime Skills) project.
Funded by the EU Interreg IVA France (Channel) – England cross border co-operation programme, the BEEMS project is working towards the adoption of a common standard for developing workforce employment opportunities in the marine renewable energy sector, throughout the cross border region.
